He doesn't want to see me for another year! All the blood work is the same....not better but not worse. He wants to keep a check on things and said we'll do the same blood tests in one year. I should come back to see him only if I develop night sweats, fevers or start losing weight.
Only problem I'm really still having is with my stupid neck. I've been referred to neurosurgeon who has had neurologist conduct a treatment injection as well as a diagnostic injection. I go back to see him in a couple of weeks. He thinks my problem stems from large bone spur on C3 which is compressing nerve.
My main goal is to be pain free...ha! At my age that is unlikely. Maybe I should say I'd like to feel my age rather than my mother's age!Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-20278273087374285622010-07-27T06:21:00.000-07:002010-07-27T06:26:03.111-07:00ResultsSorry it's been so long since last blog. Maybe some of you thought the results of tests came back bad. All is good. Ultrasound showed all organs look normal so nothing interesting going on there. Blood work came back about the same. Since I am not experiencing any extreme symptoms doctor has requested more blood work again in about three months. I made appointment for end of September since hubby and I were going on long trip to Alaska this summer. That hasn't happened because of trouble with RV. Motorhome is still in the shop. We hope to get it back this week but will still need "diagnosis" of some problems. We didn't like the news from current shop so picked up rig a couple of weeks ago only to discover a new malfunction. Turned around and took back to have that repaired.....still there.

Still planning on shorter trip whenever we get motorhome back and in good working order.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-38136271012421220212010-04-22T11:58:00.000-07:002010-04-22T12:01:40.936-07:00More testsWent this morning for abdominal ultrasound. The tech found my tickle spot. Didn't know there was so much heavy breathing done during one of these tests. I thought I would hyperventilate..."now take a deep breath and hold it".

Don't like waiting around for results but followup visit to Dr. isn't until May 25th. I'm sure if something drastic is noticed they will contact me.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-7537298665293163782010-04-21T17:11:00.000-07:002010-04-21T17:23:25.352-07:00God is always GoodWell, finally got to see Dr. S today...and that was a miracle. When I was told to go see Dr. S. I had some trouble getting appointment then finally got one in good time. Unfortunately, the office called yesterday and said they would need to reschedule. Grrrrrr! Miraculously, after making another appointment in another month's time(!!!!) God was there. A couple of days earlier I was asked by a friend to take her to chemo...her last...yea! Anyway, she has chemo at the same location as Dr. S. I happened to mention to the appointment nurse that I was bringing someone to the office on Wed.for her chemo and, get ready, they could see me then!!!! God is Good.

Took my friend today and had my appointment with Dr. S. Then I found out that there was more to the story. The evening my friend asked me to take her...we were chatting on facebook. I don't regularly chat with everyone but I saw her on and hadn't spoken to her for awhile so I said "HI". Today she told me she NEVER chats on facebook. That night she just happen to activate the chat feature. Have I already said God is Good.

Just had to share that God story.

On the medical side...having blood work and ultrasound. Will then go back and see Dr. S. for results. Cannot go back until third week of May...I'm going out of town for a couple of weeks with my husband. Having 40th High School reunion and rv campout with friends after that.

Until next time......Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-26793513187816539472010-04-04T09:21:00.001-07:002010-04-04T09:36:45.505-07:00New DevelopmentHad blood work (CBC) done on March 30. Doctor B's office called next day and wants to refer me to a hematologist for further testing. Lymphocytes still high. Saw Dr. B on Friday, April 2, for other things...staph infection in nose. He said he doesn't think the Lymphocytes are a major concern but it needs looking into. Dr. S is out of office Easter week and has not called yet to make appointment. Hopefully, he will call the following week and I can see him soon. Need to get health issues cleared so can go ahead and plan rv travels this summer.

Weight at Dr. B's office was 127.2. Still maintaining weight loss.

I was previously treated by a hematologist in England when my sarcoidosis flared. Had enlarged spleen...spent two years on prednisone. The two biggest active sarcoid events in my life were spurred on by hormonal changes....babies! This past summer I was taken off all hormones...maybe there is a connection? We'll see.

Feeling fine (except for stiff neck still). Am seeing physical therapist for that right now...do see some improvement. Hoping that will continue.

Also started having a protein drink every day. I think I lost some muscle tissue when on weight loss program...want to get that back.

Happy to be alive and celebrating Easter 2010 today! Great sermon at church again today. Thanks Hunter.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-86583893502240650362010-03-22T14:22:00.000-07:002010-03-22T14:28:35.633-07:00Better NowOK I've stopped whining for now.

Went back to chiropractor and now he recommends physical therapy (I told him I wasn't sure about purchasing a home cervical traction). We will see how that goes. He did say he will be purchasing equipment for his practice which will do traction...I guess I get to pay for each treatment if we go that way.

All I know is I want my neck to feel normal again...even just a little bit normal again. Sometimes I feel like I'm a robot the way I need to maneuver my neck...can't just lift my head like regular people. Sometimes it feels like my joints are stuck.

Anyway, we'll see how therapy works...still waiting to hear back from the PT office about my insurance and how much they will cover.

OK I whined a little!Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-26983412593185181562010-03-03T12:15:00.000-08:002010-03-03T12:26:20.141-08:00Need to WhineSorry to put this down on paper (whatever) but I need to whine a little.

Contemplating the purchase of cervical traction device recocmmended by my chiropractor. They cost $500 or more! The big question is will it help or will I be out another $500 for nothing. No problem if I knew it would help. I've been trying to get my neck back to it's pre-pain state for over a year with no improvement. Chiro says I have retrolisthesis of the cervical vertebra C5-C6. They are shifted and cannot be corrected except with surgery and realignment with a brace. It was probably happening over years but finally pushed "over the edge" by some small movement on my part. This is after years of regular correction by a chiropractor.

Today is a bad day. Pain, dizziness, lightheadedness....no fun.

Thanks for listening and letting me whine a little.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-55620846236149946322010-02-23T14:10:00.000-08:002010-02-23T14:26:35.737-08:00February is already over?!Sorry I've been away from blogging for awhile. I've been working on 40th high school reunion this year. It's been fun trying to find old classmates. I don't mean "old" just former classmates. There, that's better.

In attempting to fulfill my New Year's resolution for 2010 I've been attending a yoga class at my gym. Thanks to Sally for inviting me to attend. I love it and believe it will (or has) help me. I was surprised to find how many of the postures I can actually manage without pain. Still feel some pain in neck and hip but nothing that keeps me from continuing to go to class. It helps when the instructor guides you through the postures so seamlessly you don't even know your going from one posture to the next. Very tricky.

Still managing to stay on my "no excuses" eating plan. Have managed to add a new snack...but only on special limited occasions. I found KC's Babycakes near the church. Gourmet cupcakes. YUM! :)

On the health note, still feeling fine except for dizziness. CANNOT do back bend at yoga...very bad for me. It doesn't hurt my back but everything starts spinning. I feel like my eyeballs are twirling around in their sockets!

Had MRI on cervical spine. Better experience this time. Very attentive technician...talked to me all the time so I was more relaxed and knew when I could swallow (that was a problem with last MRI). Will see doctor this week to hear the diagnosis. Still have pain and stiffness in neck.

Having a little pain in left knee...stepped a little funny on the treadmill a couple of weeks ago. Laid off treadmill for about a week and was fine for a few days. Tweaked the knee again so will try and let it heal some more. Twisting seems to be the problem...old joints are just unstable. Need to strengthen the support system!

Hope everyone who reads this is well and enjoying life!Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-76256458138125278402010-01-04T19:17:00.000-08:002010-01-04T19:24:57.134-08:00New Year...Newer MeHappy New Year!

Cannot believe it is already 2010! I remember when 2000 just rolled around. I'm happy about hitting the double digits...I like the sound of twenty ten.

Still working on myself...my health. New resolution for 2010 is to work harder to develop core stablization strength...I need to continue to stand up by myself and not slump over in the chair. DO NOT want to become just a blob!

Happy with the success of 2009. Lost 35 pounds and numerous inches...now wearing size 6! God is good to me. Wake up praising God and the day will not be bad. Everyday is a miracle! A Gift! Celebrate!

Will begin new Bible study at church tomorrow. Looking forward to that.

Preacher gave Fantastic sermon on Sunday...perfect for beginning a new year. Waiting for it to be posted on website. Will link it everywhere I can so that others can hear. Isn't it great to be alive!Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-38644117078014640852009-12-15T21:34:00.001-08:002009-12-15T21:41:30.189-08:00Health MattersJust to catch you up on my health. Today I saw my regular doctor...very dizzy this morning...he thinks it's a virus in my ear canal and probably loose rocks again! Will see the ENT soon. Got a shot in the rump and a prescription for Antivert. Feeling better tonight. By the way I weighed 124.6. Blood pressure 130/80.

Did go to see pulmonologist for check up and had chest xray. Dr. wanted to check more closely and so I had another CT with contrast. Dr. said the original mass seems much better but I do have a small spot in left lung. He did say it didn't look much different than last scan so he gave me one year...until I need to check it out again. I can see him if I need to...you know, if I develop any more shortness of breath or any other menacing symptom.

Did have blood work by regular doctor when I returned from trip up north and had a recheck a month later. I will do again in 3 months. Hopefully, nothing to cause any alarm. I am getting older and things change so we need to keep watch.

Will update more often.

Merry Christmas!Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-70922220659525701772009-12-15T21:17:00.000-08:002009-12-15T21:45:38.289-08:00Wedding in ShreveportAfter our trip to Houston you'd think we'd stop and stay home...not when there is a wedding in Shreveport. One of our son's friends and our other "adopted" son, Shane, was being married to Leslie Dunn in Shreveport. Zach was standing in the wedding along with Brian Smith and Justin Overman (two other "sons") along with Leslie's brother and two of Shane's friends. It was beautiful...but first.

We RV camped on Friday before with RV friends, Rob and Kay Schroeder. We camped in Ajax, LA, at the Country Livin RV Park. Very nice owners...we visited with them in the office and had cookies and cider. They had two cute dacshund's. Kay and Rob brought Carole and Sherman Levey with them in their RV. We went into Natchitoches, LA, and met up with Kay and Rob's daughter, Amy, and their son, daughter-in-law and grandson, Robert, Juliet and Landon, at The Landing restaurant for dinner. We walked along the lakefront taking photos of the lights. It was such a cute town...Bed and Breakfast capital. Steel Magnolias, the movie, was filmed in that town.

Jim and I moved the RV up to Shreveport on Saturday morning then went to the Centenary chapel for the 3 PM wedding. Did I say it was beautiful! Shane was so handsome and Leslie was an exquisite bride! The minister performed a wonderful marriage service...perfectly said. I cried first when I saw Shane's mom, Sally, walk down the aisle. I cried again when I looked at Shane as he watched Leslie come down the aisle. He looked like he was crying a little. I couldn't look at Shane without seeing my big handsome son, Zach. He's so grown up and snazzy in his tux.

The reception was at the Ramada in Bossier City...in the atrium room. So pretty. The cakes were fantastic...Leslie's mom made both the wedding cake and the groom's cake. The groom's cake looked like a deep dish pizza and was even presented in a Domino's pizza box! It was all alot of fun...DJ and dancing. I even got on the dance floor with Sally...she made me do it!!

We got up the next morning and drove back home...this time to stay for awhile. Will stay put until January at least!Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-72680464900926715712009-12-15T21:08:00.000-08:002009-12-15T21:17:46.590-08:00Time to see friends from the pastJust be thankful I didn't title it Time to see OLD friends.

Jim and I worked for Texaco when we met and every year a group of our former workmates has a luncheon at Christmastime. We took the RV and camped at the KOA Houston Central campground in Aldine, north Houston. The luncheon was on Thursday, Dec. 3 and we enjoyed seeing all our old friends. The BBQ was good too.

After the luncheon we went back to the RV and changed clothes and headed out to look around. We drove through the old neighborhood and past our house on Winter Oaks in Ashford Forest subdivision. Then went past Jim's first townhome nearby. Everything looked good and we enjoyed remembering things around there. Lots has changed but we loved seeing it all.

We finally found our way to the Oren house where my 40th reunion planning meeting was being held. Got to see people I've not seen in years. What fun. Everyone has a job to do...checking out venues and trying to find people. We have a facebook page for the Class of 1970 as well as one on Classmates.com. Planning for April 2010 but facing challenge for such an early date. We'll see.

By Friday it was predicted to snow and it began early in the morning. I had planned to go visit my sister and take her some things I brough from Louisiana. We decided to go and Jim drove all the way from north Houston to Richmond in the far southwest area. It was a blizzard the closer we got to Brenda's. She was off that day so it was good to see her. She had a fire in the fireplace...first in her new home. It was very cozy. We had to drive all the way back through Houston to get to the RV. It was crazy but a little fun seeing the snow. Very cold that night in the RV. Woke to 23 degree temps outside. Good thing we have a furnace. Had no trouble on the roads on Sat. morning. Got back home with no problems.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-21398127697150333472009-12-15T20:59:00.000-08:002009-12-15T21:08:24.632-08:00Still more traveling to doWe did have some time at home after big Northeast trip but then Thanksgiving came around. Our son, Jimmy, came home from school as did our eldest, Zach. We all packed the SUV and headed to Texas. Jim dropped me off at my mother's home in Palestine, TX, and he and the boys went to the lakehouse in Star Harbor near Malakoff, TX. I wanted to be there to help my mom with dinner prep since she had recently been ill. Besides my family, only my oldest brother, Van, was coming for dinner on Thanksgiving. My sis, Brenda, had to work and her son, Troy, had a wedding to stand in. So there was not enough time for her family to come up. My other brother, Leonard, and his family had suffered with sickness so decided to just stay home and get better. Leonard cooked the dinner and reported it was a success.

Our dinner was also good. Van came up early on Thursday and started cooking part of the dinner. He prepared his famous dressing and brought sweet potatoes to bake. It was all delicious and we enjoyed being together.

Van and the boys went outside in the afternoon and threw the football...no surprise it's the ritual. We all entered the museum (the garage) and did some searching for collectibles. Lots of stuff there but would need a major clean out to see everything. I think there were purses I had in high school!

Van had to leave to get back to Houston since he worked on Friday. My family went back to the lakehouse after watching the Texas A&M & Texas football game and then drove back to Louisiana on Friday. It was tough leaving my mom but I appreciated being able to spend a couple of days with her.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-33051410279476598252009-12-15T20:36:00.000-08:002009-12-15T20:59:28.116-08:00Back in TouchWell, first my husband and I did leave on September 14th for RV trip up to the northeast to see the changing leaves. We didn't always have internet so I didn't always have time to post as we went. Started trip off with visit to see our son, Jimmy, at Univ. of Georgia in Athens, GA. Enjoyed seeing Jimmy's house where he's now living with a couple of roommates. The house next door has friends of his as well so I think it's good.

The trip was awesome. Next stop (after Athens, GA) was Gaffney, SC, to have the RV serviced at the Freightliner shop. We got a chance to go into Gaffney and see some things there. We visited Harold's, one of the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives from Food TV. Had fun eating the famous chili burger...no real burger patty with chili but actually chili with meatballs on a burger bun. We also visited local museum...the guy there actually had to go through the place and turn on all the lights for us. I guess they don't have big crowds. It was fun and the guy there was nice. He reminded me of Okey from Waitress (the movie).

Next, we traveled the Journey through Hallowed Ground to see Civil War sites. First stop on that leg was Charlottesville, VA, to visit Monticello, Montpelier and the University of Virginia.

Visited Manassas and Leesburg, VA; Gettysburg and Philadelphia, PA; Stonington, CT (to see my cousin and aunt and uncle); Newport, RI; Boston, Cape Cod and Plymouth, MA; Kennebunkport, Freeport and Arcadia National Park in Maine; Campabello Island (FDR's home) and Hopewell Cape (home of the Bay of Fundy tides) in New Brunswick, Canada; back to the USA through Bangor, ME; New Hampshire and into Vermont where we stayed at a a park on the islands in Lake Champlain. We left there and traveled back up the islands and crossed into northern New York State traveling back down the coast road to Saratoga Battlefield and Fort Ticonderoga. Made our way through a snow storm in Pennsylvania and to Harpers Ferry, WV. Managed to visit Antietam (the bloodiest Civil War battle ground) as well. Then started the real trip back down south driving on the Skyline Drive. Couldn't get on at the top because of ice and snow but did enter two thirds of the way down and camped on the Drive at Loft Mountain for that night. The camp was covered in ice when we arrived...very cold night there but beautiful. Made it to the beginning of the Blue Ridge Parkway and began our trek down. BEAUTIFUL scenery and not much traffic at the beginning. Next day more traffic as weather improved. Saw several convertables eventhough it was still very cold. Got off the parkway at Asheville, NC, and camped in town. Drove into The Biltmore grounds next day and toured the mansion. Unbelievable...they were starting to decorate for Christmas. We also went to the winery there and had lunch at The Bistro...loved the salad and pizza! Bought some wine and took off to Nashville. Camped in Sam's parking lot before getting on the Natchez Trace the next morning. Traveled all the way down to Jackson, MS, that day and camped in Clinton. Did the rest of the Trace last day and headed home. We arrived back IN Covington on October 23rd. Whew!! What a trip. Had a great time.

Now considering next big trip.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-29462330211816391332009-08-20T13:07:00.000-07:002010-09-16T18:45:13.514-07:00Houston, TexasI've been in Houston since Sunday, 8-16-2009. Came to visit my sister and see my nephew, Benjamin, who is visiting his dad, my brother, Van. Benjamin lives in Indianapolis, IN, but plans to go back to California. Benjamin worked with group like conservation corps and camped(lived) in woods and hills doing mountainman type work. Loved seeing him. We all met at my other brother's home in the country. His wife, Karen, and kids, Anson, Ashlen and Gillian, prepared most of the food and had beer and wine. I drove like a crazy person in order to make the trip from Louisiana for the party. Leonard's home is in the country and is on lots of property. Really cool place to visit.

Next night I had dinner with Van, Benjamin and Van's daughter, Callie, and my sister, Brenda, at Van's apt. in Houston. Sat on patio and ate grilled steak, mushrooms and Caesar salad (Van made the dressing from scratch) YUM.

Brenda took off work for three days and we worked at her house. She just moved in this year and still has boxes to unload. We did some throwing out and arranging some things. Always good to accomplish homey things.

Brenda's daughter, Cara, had wisdom teeth removed today and I'm looking after her since Brenda had to return to work. I will go home tomorrow.

Got a call from doctor re PET scan. He thinks mass has not changed but doesn't show any cancer. He will show the scan to me when I return home. Doctor recommends another followup chest x-ray in about 3-4 months to check on mass and see if it's still there, growing or shrinking. Still using inhaler and planning on trip to Maine in September. Feel really good knowing my friend the doctor is taking good care of me. How blessed am I?!!!Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-10808170768730983452009-08-15T08:21:00.000-07:002009-08-15T08:29:23.175-07:00Finally SaturdayWell had the PET scan on Tuesday. No problems there...long time for procedure...injection then wait 1 hour before 25 minutes in scanner. Arms got tired towards end... had to hold them above my head for scan. Little old lady was next...she had extreme back pain. Not sure how she managed. I kept thinking about her during my scan...how would she manage? If she could survive that then so could I.

Got call from doctor on Friday. Good news. No "hot spots" on scan. Still mass in lung. Doctor will look at scan himself and see what he can figure out. Feeling really well except for stupid left rib. Still using inhaler (symbicort).

Went to other doctor to check that out. He felt nice knot on rib where pain centered but we decided xray was not necessary...if broken or cracked still have to let it heal. We will check on calcium and vit. d levels in a couple of months. Just need to remember weakness of ribs and take care. Weight at this visit 129.5 BP 135/88. Can't believe I cracked 130 pounds. Feel great, lots of energy.

Will travel to Houston to see brothers and sister and nieces and nephews on Sunday. Will come back to Covington at end of week. First time to see sister's new house.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-24142348921534450782009-08-07T18:54:00.001-07:002009-08-07T19:02:48.819-07:00Me AgainCan't believe I'm still seeing doctor's for one thing and another.

Had followup chest x-ray since bronchoscopy on 6-30-09 and saw doctor. He still doesn't like the looks of things so I'm having PET scan on Tuesday. Hopefully we will finally see if anything bad is in the lung. Doctor did say nothing fungusey or bacterially had grown in cultures yet and he didn't thing anything would. Can't wait until Tuesday is done. Will not have results for a couple of days after that.

Hubby having more surgery on head for skin cancer. Will need plastic surgeon to repair after MOH's surgery to remove cancer. I told him it should be good...they can just draw up both sides and stitch giving him an instant face lift. He'll look younger than me!

It's hell getting old.

So far I have lost at least two more pounds from last visit to doctor. At Dr. C's I weighed 132.8 on Tuesday. Last time I was there I weighed 134.8. Everything I've lost looks like muscle...lots of droopy skin. Feel very energetic.

Had breast MRI on Thursday. Really funny position...on tummy with breast hanging in little holes in table...nicely draped with sheet. Had to raise up my body to reposition and managed to hurt my ribs again on left side...back and front hurting. This is the third time this kind of thing has happened. Am I really breaking bones or what???

Still working on fixing neck...saw Dr. Ch. today and he recommends Pain Mainagement doctor... maybe injections, we'll see. If that is not good for me probably more physical therapy.

One day I hope to pain free and healthy.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-88851627672797190152009-07-31T13:42:00.000-07:002009-07-31T13:53:22.429-07:00Back in town againJust got back from seeing the PT again. Still doing heat and massage treatments as well as stretches. Still very tender. May be something I'll just learn to live with.

Jim and I traveled to Sedalia, MO, in the RV for the HRRVC International Rally. Good trip...weather was great. Sometimes in the 70's and did manage to get into 80's while there. We took tours to St. Louis, Independence and Kansas City. Loved Kansas City...very beautiful town.

We went up in The Gateway Arch in St. Louis. We traveled in our little pod with three other people. Very interesting...I had to talk all the way to keep from thinking I was closed into a tiny little egg shape. Made the trip up and down safely. View was great from the top. Saw two movies in the Gateway Arch museum area...one on Lewis and Clark expedition (National Geographic production) and one on the building of the Arch. Walked thru the museum as well. Lots to do there. Park area surrounding the Arch is also nice. It is right on the edge of the Mississippi River. We took a river boat cruise down around the area and had a boxed lunch aboard. Later we had dinner at the Old Spaghetti Warehouse. Good lasagne.

In Independence we saw Truman's library and the 1949 Jail.

In Kansas City we had a guided bus tour of the town. Saw as much as possible in 3 hours. Jim and I had lunch at the Italian Deli in the market near the museum. Toured the museum...very nice. The Arabian riverboat sunk in the Missouri River in 1879 and was dug up (Missouri River changed course) in a corn field near Kansas City. The cargo was recovered and is on display at the museum. Unbelieveable how most everything was intact...dishes, glassware, tools, clothes, shoes, silverware, etc. Everyone should see it.

Got back home and unloaded the Rv that night. Took back to storage next day. Zach was home but only saw him for a little bit...he headed back to BRouge.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-89217744836373296712009-07-06T13:37:00.000-07:002009-07-06T13:46:50.714-07:00CatchupSince procedure on 6-30 I have heard from doctor. No cancer cells in lung lavage fluid. Still growing cultures...fungus or bacteria...will be ready about 8 weeks. Now on Symbicort 2 puffs-twice daily. No side effects.

Saw other doctor for osteoporosis...can now begin taking calcium and Vit. D as required. No blood test today...will repeat calcium in three months. Weight 132.5 at doctor's office. Blood pressure 155/80. Pounding heart beats nothing serious...may be intensified by Symbicort. Will monitor how that goes. Doctor can do Holter monitor for 24 hours if we decide still a problem or getting worse. Sounds good to me...so tired of seeing doctors. I don't know how cancer and seriously ill people do it...Thank God for my good health.

Saw PT today about neck. Treatments (heat and mustle stimulator and ultrasound) followed by gentle stretching (OUCH!). Will continue to gently do stretches for upper trapezius and levator scapula.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-41504615234478884842009-06-30T13:04:00.000-07:002009-06-30T13:19:29.985-07:00BronchoscopyWell today was the day of the bronchoscopy. Trying to discover what the "thing" is in my lung. Arrived at STPH about 7:20 AM. Finished paperwork with admitting and was in the elevator headed up by 7:30 AM. Everything went fast...in room right away. Weight on admittance was 130.2 pounds. Lightest so far even with giant Saucony's on.

Was growing a little worried this morning before leaving home but Pastor called at the perfect time and prayed with me over phone. Calm result. Nothing like communicating with God when worry sets in. I'd been saying prayers myself all yesterday and this morning but there is something special when a friend can pray for me. Thanks Rev. Thank God

Anyway, everyone very nice at hospital and took such good care of me. IV (which I dread) was painless thanks to Martha. Taken to procedure room early (before scheduled 9 AM time) by Nurse Debbie. Really don't like to wait around! Believe worse part was breathing treatment to numb throat...weird inhaling meds and could feel throat "going away". Saw the doctor come in (thank God for him) and that's all I remember (thank God for sedation). I believe I was back home around 10:30 AM and promptly undressed and crawled back into bed for a nap. Woke again around 12:30 PM, took some sips of water and decided throat had recovered and I could probably eat something. Finally had 1/2 sandwich (tuna) around 1:30 PM and feel more back to normal.

Waiting to hear from doctor. Want to talk to him myself...he did tell hubby everything went well and, I think, he sent specimens for lab work. I'll know more when I can ask him my usual thousand questions. As I said before, thank God for my doctor.

Friend is having foot operation today also. Have not been able to get in touch to see how she's doing. Left message on phones...hope someone can call later. Her recovery will be lots longer than mine has been...foot on pillows and such.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-87927779181413644822009-06-25T08:17:00.000-07:002009-06-25T08:34:07.015-07:00Still HereIt's been awhile since I posted on the blog. I've been trying to get over the breathing problems and coughing. Will see pulmonologist today for function tests. Hope something is found so I can treat and get going full steam again.

Also trying to get neck back into pre-pain condition. Had MRI on 6-19. Saw ortho dr. yesterday and was told no glaring serious problems. Will see PT next week to try and get on program to relieve pain, stablize neck, increase flexibility and strengthen. I'm ready to get on with painfree life.

Still (or rather back) to working out as before trip out west. Last official weight (at doctor's) was 133.1. That's with shoes and such. I've weighed myself on home scale right out of shower and it shows 130. I'm very happy with my success and hope to continue, with God's help, keeping the weight off. Weight is probably this low because I don't have any muscles. Need to pump up the weights at the gym. Before now, and still, trying to keep pain away from my hips and legs as well as shoulder and neck.

Said goodbye to friend on 6-19. Robin Childs passed away on 6-12 after long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She is my second really tough friend to beat this disease through death. Robin once told me that death can be the healing from pain and disease. She told me this as we remembered my friend, Mary, who had been praying for healing. I believe what Robin said...trust in God and He will deliver you. Robin has been delivered to God's family in heaven having finished His purpose for her on earth. Remember Robin's faith in Jesus Christ, her faith in friends and family, and her purpose for living those gifts in full view of those around her. Believe me...there is a party going on in heaven right now with smiles all around. What a joyful thought.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-54259145597379677712009-06-05T07:44:00.000-07:002009-06-05T07:50:28.379-07:00Back home after long trip out west. On our way to Meteor Crater in Arizona we ran into sand storm blowing across I-40. Unbelieveable! Don't know how Jim kept the rig on the road. Had some small damage to the awning but able to continue trip. I-40 shut down for one night so we camped in Flying J. Managed to inhale LOTS of sand and developed some breathing problems which remained for the entire trip. Still having cough but saw doctor yesterday. Weight 133.8.

Enjoyed seeing the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Zion NP, Bryce Canyon NP, Capitol Reef NP, Arches NP, Canyonlands NP, Monument Valley, Hovenweep NM, and Mesa Verde NP.

Trip ended on very sad note. My niece, Maggie Brown (18) was killed in a car accident in Indianapolis IN. Leaving Mesa Verde on our way to Santa Fe, NM, we got the news. Cancelled rest of plans and headed straight to mom's in Palestine, TX. Flew to Indianapolis on Monday, 5-25 to attend funeral next day. Still cannot believe.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-26957609729005347922009-04-05T19:47:00.000-07:002009-04-05T19:55:35.403-07:00Fired Up!!!Went to work out today and just walked on the treadmill. Pain in my hip (boy, I'm getting old!). Came home and iced it down and had a little vino!

Finally wore some new clothes to church this am. SIZE 10!!! and they were about 2 inches too big. Either I'm doing really well with the diet and exercise or I'm dying!

Went to see Beth Moore at the Arena in NO this weekend. Amazing woman! What a great message. Music was fantastic. Bought two cd's and stopped traffic listening to the Living Proof Live cd. Couldn't stop my hands from moving!! Loved it. Me and friends stayed over in the FQ Friday night and enjoyed discussing the first night of the conference. What fun. Love all those ladies.

Guest minister at worship this morning...one of our mission partners. Sermon message was best it could be...straight from God. Why can't everyone hear this kind of good news? Get to a church people!

That's enough preaching from me today. This is my blog after all.

Hope everyone reading this is well. Spend everyday with a joyful heart.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-86647843807569649422009-03-29T15:58:00.000-07:002009-03-29T16:08:51.406-07:00Shopping!!!Well finally had to go shopping for new clothes. Dropped two sizes since first of year! I only bought a few things as I fully intend to lose more. The only thing scary about it is I've been thinner before only to gain little by little. I just need to remember to cut one of those little's when it makes an appearance next time.

One thing I discovered is that I must have also shrunk. All the pants are way too long...must be made for those 6' models (or 4" heels).

Did not go to workout at all this weekend. I figured walking around the shops all day was enough exercise. I even took a cooler with my homemade lunch and had in the car when I needed to eat. No more being out and just happening by the Chick fil a. That's what I did while Christmas shopping last year. It tastes good but I don't want to think about the calories.

Need to close now and go have a MD 64. Just perfect for me.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-741849956517916669.post-19524027033511172362009-03-26T12:01:00.000-07:002009-03-26T12:08:13.723-07:00Hello againI keep forgetting to update blog...must remember to check everyday.

Went for yearly physical and was told I was 20 pounds lighter than one year ago! Sounds great to me but I need MORE. Still would like to lose 10 pounds or so.

I feel so much better losing the weight I have already. Need to get back on active workout program but am waiting until I hear what's wrong with my neck. Nothing seems to be helping get rid of pain. I discovered today that I will not be able to watch tennis matches since turning my head back and forth repeatedly almost makes me faint from the pain. My pain is not as bad as some people experience but I don't want ANY pain! There must be something that can be fixed by the proper care...I just don't know what that is right now. Maybe I find out next week...seeing a new doctor.

Pray for me and all others in pain. The world is too much fun to experience it in pain. Need to go walk now. I can, at lease, still do that.Bevhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06096045861097969833noreply@blogger.com0
